DOUBLES DELIGHT

CLUB ROLLOVER TRANSPORT TO WIN ON THE ROAD

The Darts team recorded back-to-back wins for the first time as they edged out Transport ‘A’ 5-3. It was far from straight forward as a number of players didn’t get out of first gear. Player Manager Chukka said afterwards ‘I didn’t even make first gear, I was stuck in reverse’. After a calamitous team game ended in defeat where the whole team failed to close it out and were defeated, it was onto the main game. The Stablemaster, who had bolted out with a 77 average in the Team competition fell at the first, but the team were back on level terms in remarkable circumstances as Chukka was found guilty of robbery after throwing several hundred darts and still came out on top. No such worries for Ben, aka Debbie McGee as he produced a near flawless performance to maintain his impressive record in the singles.

Brother Max ‘aka The Magician’ cut a forlorn figure as one of the opposing team had the audacity to have the same nickname. There was to be no conjuring trick as he fell to defeat against ‘The Saint’. Club then regained the lead as Captain Paulo steamrolled his way to let another milestone, 8 successive wins, before D & D, agonisingly by the width of the wire fell to defeat. Dan later complained of heckling, from the feared ultras of the Transport, who were told to get back to playing their cribbage and dominoes. That’s Hardcore. Our own ultra, Brett ‘The Hitman’ Naylor had come to lend his support, he did well to make it after sixteen pints in the Norton. With the game on a knife-edge, caution was thrown to the wind as the Sampson boys (Ben & Max) cruised to victory, in their doubles and Paulo & Chukka followed it up in a carbon copy performance to give us a 5-3 victory.

Next week, they are back home at the GCB Arena for the last game of 2024, a home match against The Abbey. Should be close as both teams have identical records. Good Arrows.
